Brilliant for the odd express or to test if you get on with expressing before paying out for a decent one. It does the job and is ok for the money. It's easy to take apart and clean. However, it leaks when in use, discolours quickly and easily moulds out of shape when sterilizing. Unless you have a very good flow, i doubt it'll be quick. - Strengths:

I bought this to pop in my bag for when I'm out without baby. It's not so small and compact but handy if I have no access to electric. However when I'm using it milk seems to spit out of the top, I end up in a bit of a mess. It's quite tricky to make sure you have washed everything correctly. A good value pump that is easy to use. It comes apart easily to clean but it will take ages to dry so get used to the inside being wet! It pumps quickly but if you use the express pouches they can sometimes fill with air. If this happens it’s loosen the bag a little. - Strengths:

I have used this with both my children but only managed a few days of it before giving up.
It can be quite hard to get a natural sucking motion as you have to squeeze the handle with your hand. It takes quite a while I wouldn’t recommend it as a pump to use constantly but ok for the odd bottle every now and again.
The sterilising tub was a happy extra and I even kept it for sterilising food bowls and spoons later on - Strengths:

I bought the Nuby electric breast pump which I love but needed a manual one that would help me pump whilst out and about. Because I have a lot of tommee tippee bits I thought could use this one. But it's just awful. I feel it's not collecting properly. I have to sit forward as if i sit back it leaks all down me. I managed to get 2 oz this morning in the storage bag but I.must of had 2oz over me as well. Which is heartbreaking. The middle bit that connects to the pump keeps coming apart whilst pumping and this is making it even more messy. - Strengths:

Really awful to be honest. Really hard to give a proper clean all fiddily bits and places that liquid can get stuck etc. Tried for about a week before giving up and having to borrow an electric one from the baby centre near me. - Weaknesses:

Handy to have as a back up if you're unable to use an electric pump but can be a bit tiring having to constantly pump. Breast shield will fit a range of sizes though I do struggle sometimes to get into the right position to effectively get milk out. Once I have got it positioned right I can get a fair it out. Comes with sterilizing box which is handy to keep it all together to transport. Easy to take apart for cleaning. I do get a bit of leakage when taking the pump off also. - Strengths:

I brought this manual pump purely because we were going on a 26 hour journey across, France, Spain and Portugal and I needed something while I was in the car as I couldn't use my electrical pump. I must say I hated using it every time. Being a larger breasted woman I found that I wasn't getting any milk out with the rubber insert so I had to remove that from the pump and it did work better without it however by doing so the pump kept falling off the bottle so I had to hold both parts when using it. It hurts your hand after a while but that might be because I never used it before. I didn't have much luck getting a lot of milk out either when I used it. Normally I would only be able to get 30 or 60ml out on each session which wasn't a lot compared to my normal 150ml but session. - Strengths:

This product was a godsend! When I had each of my children I bought one of these to use alongside breast feeding, sadly my boys were unable to feed however this pump allowed me to still give them my breast milk. It also allowed me to combi feed my daughter for 9 months. The soft cup wasn't painful at all and the pump action was strong but not uncomfortable. The pump allowed me to build up a supply of milk in the freezer as well. If I was expressing for a long time then there was some leakage from the bottom of the breast cup, however this was minimal. Used this pump for the first time this morning. Was very easy to get going, very handy having the storage box as a microwave steriliser also. The pump its self is easy to dissemble and put back together again to clean. When using the pump it attaches easy to the breast and pumps well. Best product iv brought to go along with breastfeeding!

This pump is affordable, basic runof the mill.
I found it relatively easy and comfortable to use, and the suction was effective enough for me to get a good amount from.
I found that the pump leaks a lot when removing from the breast and there seems to be quite a few different components making it fiddly to clean.

Great price and a handy thing to have if you need to pump a little to stop getting engorged if out and about. Obviously hand pumping is more physically demanding and so can ache your arms slightly - however it worked well for me ! - Strengths:

This is a great pump for occasional use mainly due to the fact that it’s so cheap! It’s easy to take apart, clean and out back together. I found it easy to use. However, your hand will ache after 10 minutes or so and my main annoyance with this is with the design of the Tommee Tippee bottle meaning that the milk can’t be decanted easily and I almost always spill some. As it catches round the lip of the bottle. I’m glad I have one but will be purchasing an electric pump soon. - Strengths:

Gives you hand ache using. If your going to be pumping a lot just buy an electric they’re worth every penny. Doesn’t clean well , have to take all bits out and clean thoroughly. - Strengths:

I found that this product is freest for those odd occasions that you want to have an expressed bottle in the fridge as it is very easy to pump away when you have baby in the other hand feeding away. However if you are looking to build up a good supply for when you go back to work etc then I found it’s not good for that as it takes too long to express till empty. After a while of using it has begun to squeak and after 20 mins of pumping your hand is tired, let alone thinking about moving on to the other breast to empty after baby’s feed. I bought this when my electric pump stopped working and find it even more effective! This is a nice comfortable pump that works well. It's simple to use; put it together, attach and pump. I found the tips about pumping at a speed to match your baby really helpful. It is easy to store the milk and comes with everything you need. I did start without the valve once, it worked but not effectively, so do be careful putting it together. Once done it comes apart as sterilise easily. There is one section at the head of the pump that I could not get apart. This is a shame as it seemed to have water/milk in it and I was slightly concerned that it would not be completely clean. But looks ok when steam sterilise in the box. Overall very happy! - Strengths:

This pump is good for the price however it is hard to complete a thorough wash after pumping. I have only used a couple times as I do not get much milk from it, I do find milk leaks out of pump once I release breast which can be messy. Microwaveable sterilising box is very useful, easy and quick to use, great bonus for the price. Produce may work for others but I did not have any luck. - Strengths:

I bought this pump before I went ahead ad bought an electric one to see if I could express. It is really good, easy to use and to steriliser and brilliant value for money. I’ve used 4 different breast pumps and this manual one is by far the best for me. It is comfortable and easy to use. Very few parts, comes in a steriliser storage box to makes cleaning easy. Lightweight making it easy to take around. I have 2 of these pumps and use to express milk at work and at home, as well as a few other places I’ve needed it. Good value for money if you can get one when they are in offer. - Strengths:

Don’t get me wrong, this is a good product but once you have used the electric version, you don’t really want to go back to this one! It’s good enough if you don’t express very often & it does do the job, although it does make your hand ache after a while, especially if you don’t express your milk very quickly. I find I get more milk when using the electric one!
This set comes with a lot of handy other bits including the breast pads which were useful! The pump does come apart easily to clean/sterilise etc & goes back together just as easily. If you’re not planning to express too often, this is perfect for you. If you’re planning to express a lot, just buy the electric one as it’s easier. You won’t need both (like I got) so save yourself a bit of money & just get one or the other. - Strengths:

So was looking forward to expressing so my husband could help with feeding and bonding however I just found this pump did not fit me very well and was able to get a much better result with just manually expressing. I got another pump through the hospital but still used some of the other pieces that came with the set as they were useful so it wasn't a complete waste. Think it's more suited for a more average size - Strengths:
