This is a super manual pump. I originally bought a competitive branded electric pump, which although is easy to use doesn’t yield very much milk no matter how long I pump. With the Medela Harmony I can get between 3-5 ounces in twenty minutes.
The pump itself is easy to use, and quite comfortable. It has two modes, for me for starting you milk flow (similar to how baby sucks when first on the breast) and then a slower mode for more effective expression.
The pump is easy to disassemble and sterilise and can be put back together quickly and easily too.
The only down side is that the set doesn’t come with a tear so you can’t feed baby unless you buy additional products. It does have a lid though so you can immediately store in the fridge.

Really good value for money here and much easier and more effective to use than other leading electric pumps.

I bought this as I started on my re-lactation journey- my son was in the NICU and we never mastered breastfeeding, but when i tried to re-lactate I found the sound of the electric pump brought back bad memories of the NICU . This manual pump is silent, and operated by using your hand to press the lever. There are 2 sides to the lever, the top part is to initiate the pump and get your milk ready, and the main bit to express. For best results, hold down the lever for 10 seconds before letting go as it allows the build up of milk which makes more come out a lot more easily. It is very simple to take apart and put together, which makes cleaning a breeze. The price is very reasonable compared to most breast pumps, the only down-side being you can only express one breast at a time. I'll definitely be choosing this breast pump in future over the electric one. 10/10

I can’t compare to others as only used this one, however I found it simple and effective. It was easy to assemble/dissemble and clean. It did the job it specifies and wasn’t complex or difficult to understand or use. Will be using again with my second.

2-Phase Expression technology useful to help let down

The 2-Phase Expression technology helps get the let down flowing, and starts off your pumping session with a more gentle rhythm, as I don't pump often I find this all very helpful.
Small enough to take away, I took this on holiday recently.

    • Strengths:

The pump is so easy to assemble and to use. Can pump with one hand while having a free hand.

    • Weaknesses:

I had tried other pumps with were much lower quality and I wasn't getting much milk expressed. I was a bit apprehensive about buying the medela pump because it was so cheap! But I couldn't believe how good it was. I easily got 4oz in 10mins and couldn't have got that in half an hour before. Easy to use, easy to sterilise. No faults with it at all!! Definitely recommend.

I have started trying to build up a small stash of milk for emergencies/when I go back to work and was using my Medela double freestyle pump, which is good, but I'm on my own and was trying to pump after the little man had gone to sleep. The electric pump was loud so I wanted a quieter, more portable option.

I decided to go for the Harmony purely because I already had all the Medela stuff and I'm so glad I did. This pump is incredible, I can pump even more than I was getting with the electric pump that cost 10x what this one did. It even helped when I ended up with a blocked duct that neither baby or electric pump could clear.

Overall I feel this pump is incredible value and an absolute essential for anyone who wants to pump.

After a rocky start to breastfeeding I eventually gave up and converted to pumping - this pump has been mine and my son’s best friend since! It’s easy to clean, handle is just right for my small hands too. I found I got more milk with this compared to another top brand pump and it still works perfectly after 8 months of constant use.

Great pump, very effective when pumping. Pumps a great amount of milk in a short space of time at your own pace. Personally find it more effective than a electric pump.

My goal was to exclusively breastfeed my daughter when she was born however after a C-section I was really struggling and found it difficult to cope when I couldn't get into the right position and my daughter was such a hungry baby. I wanted to try expressing so that I could continue giving breast milk rather than switching to formula and, as I still wanted to breastfeed and this was just for an occasional top up, I was told to try a manual pump and had this recommended to me. However, I found this really difficult to get any milk out and the constant manual pumping for hours and barely getting out an ounce was making me feel so disheartened. I think one of manual pumps can be great to help with engorgement or to catch let down milk from the other breast when feeding but I do not think this is suitable for mums that plan to express and bottle feed. I would prefer to try an electric pump next time to save my hands.

This pump saved my breastfeeding journey! I purchased 2 and used both at the same time whilst expressing at work, they work fast and efficiently so pumping takes half the time, i found them easy to clean, although there are lots of parts to remove and clean thoroughly. The bottles hold 5oz generally which was ideal and they also came with the calma teats and lids but i didn't use the teats, the bottles and lids can be purchased separately which i did and they are small enough to fit in a sandwich bag which is amazing for discretion. I didn't experience any pain with these pumps unlike others i had tried.

I got this as a present during the pregnancy and it was a life saver when my milk supply increased and I needed to relief some of the pain caused by engorged breast.
Also, it was a good initiation to pumping, and eventually I switched to the electric version, and keep this one in my bag when travelling for more than 2h.
The big plus on this : if you switch to the Medela Swing or Maxi Swing, all parts are 100% compatible!

Compact and easy to take in handbag. I bought this when I was in Las neon and baby was sleeping and my boobs were aching.
It’s great to have when your out and about. I have an electric pump as well but it much bigger and too many parts to carry. Quick and easy!

This is a lovely pump, I previously used the tommee tippee pump and this is by far the best. It's very comfy and easy to use.
You pump it one way (short bursts) to start and then the other way (longer pumps) to express. Would definitely use this again.
