The monitor works by having a movement sensor mat that goes under babys matteress. There are however a lot of wires so it takes a bit of faffing about to get them in a safe place. As you need a plug socket for this you also need to make sure babies bed is near one. The alarm will sound if no movement for 20 seconds but i don't think its totally accurate. If baby is in bed alone it works great but if you sleep in the same room and baby is in a bedside cot or you have wobbly floor boards the sensor picks up other movements and it wont go off. On more than one occasion i have picked baby up and the alarm has not sounded at all (which it should as after 20 seconds of no movement) the monitor itself has a beep which is supposed to be babies heartbeat and transmits sounds. You can carry it around the house with you. I have to say i wouldn't recommend this. I ended up buying a video baby monitor and a sensor pad that used batteries and worked much better. All the wires bothered me and the fact that walking round or being in the same room as baby stopped sensor going off meant i didn't trust it!

I was very excited to use this monitor however i am quite disappointed, the video is great and clear however it times out very quickly on the screen unless its plugged in at the mains. The sound also times out quite quickly and doesn't always come on when there's noise being made. The movement sensor has caused me many panic attacks by going off when my baby is perfectly fine. I feel its quite expensive for what it is and quite disappointed as i really needed the comfort of a good monitor.
Using the sensor pad was the worst thing ever! Within 2 hours our sensor pad had gone off 7 times this caused me to run to my child thinking something was wrong and waking her. This made for endless sleepless nights which weren’t needed because my child was fine just a still sleeper. Also the alarm that goes off on the parent control you do end up sleeping through as it doesn’t go off for very long so I spent most nights in a light sleep and losing a lot of sleep.

It comes with a detachable sensor pad to fits under your baby's mattress and will sound an alarm if no movement is detected after 20 seconds.
The monitor is easy to set up and simple use; the clever talkback feature and range of 300 metres with volume control and nightlight allow you to comfort your baby from another room.
The parent unit has an easy-to-read LCD monitor indicating the room temperature, a rechargeable docking station, auto-channel select, and a volume indicator.
