Always use these cotton buds as I feel they hold together when used wet or dry. Really gentle and always available in most shops.
Only slight downside is sometimes the price but I mainly buy them from Pound shops.

By far the best cotton buds the stick doesn't bend and the bud doesn't come away. It's really soft in the ear and doesn't cause any irritation -

I always have some of these in the cupboard as they are so useful weather to clean ears, touch up make up or many other uses such as cleaning in awkward spots (particularly children toys or teaot spouts) if even used them to get damp and clean blood up around children's cuts when they won't let you near the actual cut - Strengths:

Soft and gentle to clean around baby’s ears. These are my favourite brand as the cotton keeps it shape and stays together well

I prefer Johnsons cotton buds over all others. The reason for this is the tips are super soft - others i have found to be quite rough. The plastic in the middle is tough so doesnt bend easily like others i have tried and to top all that they are great value for money being one of the top brands. - Strengths:
